Problem:
What is the difference between hosting and registration?Solution:
In order for a domain to work properly on the Internet two things are required, a domain name registration to establish the domain and show who it belongs to and where it is hosted; and a host or server to store the content of the website and handle requests for web pages, email messages, and other information sent to that domain. You can register a domain name and not host it if you choose. Many people will register domain names that they may want to use in the future to be sure to secure ownership of that domain.
You can also maintain a hosting account if your domain name registration expires, however, your website content will not be viewable on the Internet and you will no longer be able to send or receive emails from your domain name. Your hosting account would then basically be used for storage, but is still a valid account. Some people will have multiple accounts for one domain name to utilize storage space.
