Server name change


Problem:

Why is my server referred to as server.domain.com or domain.domain.com? Can I change it?


Solution:

Dedicated servers have third-level names (server.domain.com or domain.domain.com) in order to avoid confusion with top-level domains that you may add to your server. For instance, if your domain name is abc.com, your server would be named server.abc.com to avoid any conflicts with the functionality of your actual website.
