Parked Domains vs. Sub-domains

Problem:

What is the difference between a parked domain and a sub-domain?

Solution:

A parked domain is second domain name that is pointed to your main website, and simply acts as a redirect. A sub-domain is also pointed to your main domain, however, a sub-domain has its own directory that you can upload files to. Also, sub-domains appear in the browser as if they are a separate website.

After a parked domain name is typed in the browser line, the visitor will be redirected to your website and the main domain name will show in the address bar. A parked domain can be any other domain name completely different domain name. For example, if your main domain name is abc.com you can park xyz.com to it.

Sub-domains vary depending on which type of control panel you have. Ensim accounts utilize typical sub-domains that are third-level versions of your main domain name. For example, if you main domain is abc.com, a sub-domain would be sales.abc.com or info.abc.com. Plusmail and Sphera accounts allow for sub-domains to be any top-level domain if you choose.
